An unreleased track by Raphael Saadiq and Steve Spacek entitled "They Don't Know You" offers a glimpse of the work they started, but unfortunately never finished.
This month is dedicated to many different things, but to some, its referred to as Dilla month. Though the late James Yancey has nothing directly to do with this record, it was because of an “Eve” remix he produced, I discovered Steve Spacek. Spacek is the producer of this, dare I say, Dilla influenced production; perfect for your Saturday morning errands.
Originally, it was Raphael Saadiq who commissioned Mr. Spacek to deliver an entire album produced by him. Sadly, the project Pookie Blue Room, was never finished, but thankfully some cuts were completed. "They Don’t Know You" which features, Common, R&B singer Ledisi and Raphael Saadiq was a nice find. With the present day waterfall of records that have featured guests, in this instance, everyone seemed to respectively define their own space, yet still achieving the collective goal of a fluid song.
